At Corby Rock we believe that calf rearing is one of the most critical areas for dairy and beef enterprises. Calf rearing represents a considerable investment on farms, and attention to detail is of paramount importance to ensure the sustainability and performance of the future herd. Calves need to reach key weight gain targets from birth to calving. In order to reach these target weights throughout the different stages of their life it is vitally important to ensure optimum rumen development, good feed intakes and encourage healthy, lean growth. The right nutrition at the beginning of a calf ’s life will yield significant long term benefits. The ingredients used in Corby Rock Mill’s calf range are carefully selected and balanced to ensure a continued healthy rumen development. All of our calf feeds are high cereal-based rations and incorporate top specification mineral and vitamin additives.
Toasted ingredients
The process of toasting or cooking ingredients enhances the digestibility and availability of nutrients. We believe the inclusion of toasted flaked ingredients is a significant benefit in starter diets for young animals, due to increased available energy and enhanced digestibility promoting calf growth. The texture and distinct colours of flaked ingredients also improves the appearance of the feed, producing a more attractive coarse ration.
Milk flavouring
Corby Rock Mill calf feed is widely renowned for its distinct sweetly-fragranced rations. This is due to the addition of milk flavouring. The appetising aroma expelled by the feed provokes curiosity within the calf encouraging them to eat. The milk flavouring helps to simplify the transition from a liquid diet consisting of milk-only, to a coarse ration.
We do not include palm kernel, pollard or sunflower in any of our calf feeds.
